What is Lamella Settling?

Lamella settling systems are specially designed clarification units equipped with thin inclined plates. These systems separate suspended solids from wastewater by gravity. The inclined plate structure slows water flow and particles slide down to the bottom.

Lamella systems are much more compact than classical settling tanks. They provide 8-12 m² effective settling surface per 1 m² floor area. Therefore, 80% less space is used for the same treatment capacity.

Lamella settling systems are an indispensable part of modern treatment plants with high efficiency, low energy consumption and compact structure.

How Does It Work?

In a lamella settling system, wastewater is directed to the inlet chamber. Inlet velocity is reduced to prevent turbulence. Water then flows upward between inclined plates.

Particles begin to accumulate on the plate surface by gravity. This accumulation slides down due to plate incline and collects in the sludge zone. Clean water rising up is discharged through the top weir.

The settling distance of particles is only the gap between two plates. This greatly reduces settling time and increases efficiency.

Evet, lamella sistemleri klasik çöktürme havuzlarına göre 5-10 kat daha verimlidir. Eğimli plakalar sayesinde efektif çöktürme yüzeyi büyük ölçüde artar. Aynı arıtma kapasitesi için %80 daha az yer kullanılır.

Bu açı aralığı partiküllerin plaka yüzeyinden kayarak aşağı toplanmasını sağlayan optimum eğimdir. Daha düşük açıda partiküller plakada yapışırken, daha yüksek açıda çöktürme verimi düşer. 55°-60° en ideal denge noktasıdır.

Atıksuyun karakterine göre malzeme seçimi yapılır. Genel kullanımlarda epoksi kaplı karbon çelik tercih edilir. Korozif atıksular için 304 veya 316 paslanmaz çelik kullanılır. Bazı özel uygulamalarda PP, PE gibi plastikler de tercih edilebilir.

Lamella sistemleri endüstriyel atıksu arıtmasında koagülasyon-flokülasyon sonrası, biyolojik arıtma öncesinde ön çöktürme ve içme suyu hazırlama tesislerinde yaygın kullanılır. Maden, gıda, metal kaplama gibi sektörlerde de tercih edilir.

Lamella sistemleri minimum bakım gerektirir. Periyodik olarak plaka yüzeylerinin temizlenmesi ve çamur toplama bölgesinin kontrolü yeterlidir. Modüler plaka tasarımı sayesinde tek tek temizleme veya değiştirme kolayca yapılır. Yılda 1-2 kez genel kontrol yeterlidir.

Lamella sistemlerinin modüler yapısı sayesinde kapasite artırımı çok kolaydır. Mevcut tanka ek plaka modülleri ekleyerek veya paralel ünite kurarak kapasite 2-3 kat artırılabilir. Bu özellik sektörel büyümeye uyum sağlamak için büyük avantaj sunar.
